The Franchise has come to an end. HBO announced this weekend that it has chosen to cancel the satirical series following its eight-episode first season, which aired its final installment near the end of November.

The series, which counted 'Veep' creator Armando Iannucci and Sam Mendes as producers, debuted last October. HBO has canceled The Franchise, its series that parodied superhero movie franchises, after one season.

Jan. 4 (UPI) -- HBO has canceled its filmmaking comedy, The Franchise, after one season. "We're so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with the tremendously talented team behind The Franchise, especially Sam Mendes, Jon Brown, Armando Iannucci, and this hilarious ensemble of actors," the cable network said Friday.

"The Franchise," the satirical comedy series about the making of a superhero movie, will not be returning for a second season on HBO.

We’re only a few short days into the new year and 2025 has officially claimed its first fallen show. That’s right, the new year has only just kicked off and, unfortunately, we already have our first cancellation of the year with HBO deciding to pull the plug on The Franchise after just one season.
