Meta says most issues have been resolved after apps like Instagram, Facebook and Threads were experiencing issues on Wednesday afternoon and errors were reported by people across the internet. In a post on X, Meta apologized for Wednesday's outage. "Thanks for bearing with us! We’re 99% of the way there - just doing some last checks," Meta said.

A major outage is affecting users of popular social media and messaging services including Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp around the globe. All these platforms are run by the social media giant Meta.

Just before 5:30 p.m., the number of reported outages on Facebook had dropped to just over 1,200, Instagram reports fell to about 1,900 from a peak of more than 68,000 and reports of issues on WhatsApp and Messenger were far below their peaks.
