Minneapolis police officer convicted of killing George Floyd hopes a motion granted by a judge on Monday will prove a heart condition actually killed him.

The former Minneapolis officer is citing a doctor’s opinion that a heart condition, not Chauvin’s knee on Floyd’s neck, is responsible for Floyd’s 2020 death.

The court granted these requests, writing that Chauvin could examine Floyd's heart tissue and that the defense could inspect, examine, and make copies of any photographs taken of Mr. Floyd’s heart. The defense will also be allowed to take quantities of certain fluids.
