The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has blamed the flight crew of a Hawaiian Airlines flight for a severe turbulence incident experienced in December 2022. Pilots of the Hawaiian Airbus A330-200 decided to fly above a known storm cell instead of going around it, leading to four serious injuries onboard and several more minor injuries.

The National Transportation Safety Board says in a report that a Hawaiian Airlines flight hit severe turbulence that injured passengers and crewmembers because of the flight crew's decision to fly over a hazardous storm cell instead of around it.

The NTSB found that Hawaiian Airlines' 2022 severe turbulence incident was caused by the crew's decision to fly over a storm cell.
