Jake Bates set the Lions' franchise record for points scored (142), passing a mark set by legend Jason Hanson, and he made several game-winning kicks.

Monday night was an eventful evening for Detroit Lions kicker Jake Bates, both on and off the field. During the Lions’ 40-34 victory over the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium, Bates set a franchise record for the most points scored in a season (135), surpassing the 134 scored by former kicker Jason Hanson in 2012.

Bates played college football at Arkansas and has had a massive season for the Lions. Entering Monday night, he had a 23-of-26 mark on field goals with a 58-of-59 clip from extra points. However, Bates missed an extra point on Monday night, although he made up for it with a pair of field goals in the second half, including a massive 57-yarder.
