Jordan, Iraq call for supporting Syria’s security, stability
Jordan and Iraq agreed Monday to back efforts aimed at supporting Syria’s security and stability following the downfall of the Bashar al-Assad regime. This came during a meeting held in Amman between Jordanian Parliament Speaker Ahmad Safadi and his Iraqi counterpart Mahmoud al-Mashhadani.
The country is deeply divided along religious and ethnic lines, which makes continuing violence one likely scenario.
