Over a week after destructive wildfires erupted in the Los Angeles area, fire crews have made progress with containment and stopped the growth of the Eaton and Palisades fires. After several "Particularly Dangerous Situation" red flag warnings issued by the National Weather Service expired,

Palisades Fire initially started 10:30 a.m. Jan. 7 in Los Angeles County. It has burned 23,713 acres after being active for nine days. A crew of 4,471 firefighters has been working on site and they managed to contain 27% of the fire by Thursday evening. The blaze's cause remains under investigation.

The Eaton and Palisades fires have burned more than 37,000 acres in Los Angeles County − an area larger than the city of San Francisco.
