Folie à Deux turned out to be a major disappointment both critically and at the box office, and Sony's Spider-Man Universe failed to properly take advantage of a calendar year light on Marvel Cinematic Universe titles.

The Spider-Man spinoff “Kraven the Hunter” got off to a disastrous start in North American theaters this weekend. The movie starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson earned only $11 million, according to studio estimates Sunday,

Universal’s “Wicked” is in second this weekend with $22.3 million, bringing its domestic total to $358 million. Paramount’s “Gladiator II” is in fourth behind “Kraven” with $7.7 million in its fourth weekend for a $145 million domestic total.
