Marin County health officials warned the public against consumption of raw milk products after they detected a suspected case of bird flu in a child who drank raw milk. Marin County Public Health said in a statement Tuesday that the child experienced fever and vomiting after drinking raw milk.

The patient was visiting the county from out of state during the Thanksgiving holiday, according to the public health office.

MARIN COUNTY, Calif. - Marin County Public Health is reporting a possible case of H5N1, also known as the bird flu, in a child. It's unclear when exactly the child potentially contracted the disease or where. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is working on determining how the child was exposed.
