It has been a busy couple of days at FromSoftware, as the Japanese studio works to manage expectations and keep players informed after the bombastic announcement of Elden Ring: Nightreign during The Game Awards.

Elden Ring: Nightreign wouldn't be the first game to have this frustrating restriction for co-op. As some may recall, The Legend of Zelda: Tri-Force Heroes only allowed for 3-player co-op or solo play. That decision proved unpopular with Zelda fans, just like this decision will likely prove unpopular with Elden Ring fans.

Ishizaki Said, “Similar to the original Elden Ring, there will be cross-generational play but not cross-platform play. So PS4 players can play with PS5 players, and Xbox One players can play with Xbox Series S and X players, but not between platforms.”
