Microsoft has just played its joker card twice in a week, forcing upgrades on millions of Windows PC owners. This will raise serious alarm bells for hundreds of million of users who may now need to upgrade their PCs with no alternative options.

Microsoft will end support for Microsoft 365 for Windows 10 this October, so you'll need to buy a new Windows 11 PC.

This year, Mehdi is back with another prediction: 2025 will be "the year of the Windows 11 PC refresh." This year is also, not coincidentally, the year that most Windows 10 PCs will stop receiving new security updates.

Windows 10 isn't the only Microsoft product that is due to lose support this coming October. In a blog post published Wednesday, the software giant said Microsoft 365 apps (aka Office) will no longer be supported in Windows 10 after Oct. 14, 2025. To continue using Microsoft 365 or Office, the company urges users to upgrade to Windows 11.

“Microsoft 365 Apps will no longer be supported after October 14, 2025, on Windows 10 devices,” the company confirmed. “To use Microsoft 365 Applications on your device, you will need to upgrade to Windows 11.”

Microsoft says an earlier blog post contained inaccurate information about changes to the Windows 11 upgrade path.
