Jeff Baena—the screenwriter and director known for films including Life After Beth, Joshy, I Heart Huckabees, and Horse Girl —died at his home in Los Angeles on January 3, reportedly by suicide. He was 47.

Baena and actor Aubrey Plaza, who were married in 2021, collaborated on several films, including the 2014 movie “Life After Beth.”

Baena co-wrote 2004’s “I Heart Huckabees” and wrote and directed five of his own films, including 2014’s “Life After Beth,” starring Plaza.
