Uber Technologies and Lyft stocks were rising Monday after two analysts shared optimistic views about the ride-hailing platforms despite concern about competition with autonomous vehicles. Both Uber and Lyft stocks hit the brakes in 2024.

The ride-sharing giants are having a good Monday, following Uber's announcement of a $1.5 billion accelerated share-repurchase program. In the young year, Uber is up about 10%, while Lyft is up 12%. D

Uber still has a bright future, and its stock still looks cheap at 15 times next year's adjusted EBITDA. However, its valuations are being compressed by the recent Federal Trade Commission probe of Uber One's subscription policies. Lyft, which doesn't face any similar probes, trades at just eight times next year's adjusted EBITDA.

Uber and Lyft are set to launch robotaxis in select US cities, focusing on safety and infrastructure challenges.

After ending their own driverless plans, the ride-sharing companies are embracing autonomous-vehicle operators and offering new app features.
