Tornado briefly touches down in Tehama County; new details released by NWS

PAYNES CREEK — A tornado touched down in Northern California's Tehama County on Friday, weather officials confirmed. According to the National Weather Service, a tornado touched down around 5:22 p.m. near the Paynes Creek area and around 11 miles southwest of Shingletown.
Possible tornado spotted near border of Tehama, Shasta counties, NWS says
According to the NWS, a possible tornado was located near Paynes Creek, south of Shingletown. As of Friday evening, it was unclear if the funnel reached the ground. By 8:30 p.m., there had been no reports of any damage. The NWS will work with the Tehama County Sheriff's Office to continue to look for any damage in the area.

According to the NWS, a brief tornado was located in an unpopulated area of Tehama County just northeast of Dairyville between 5:18 and 5:21 p.m. The tornado traveled for about 0.8 miles. The NWS said there was no damage to the area and there have been no reports of injury.
