Federal agencies are facing intense pressure to give the public more details on unexplained drone sightings in the New York City metropolitan area and beyond that have been going on for weeks over residential neighborhoods as well as restricted sites and critical infrastructure.

A large number of mysterious drones been reported flying over parts of New Jersey in recent weeks and have more recently been spotted over New York City, sparking speculation and concern over who sent them and why.

State authorities say they are aware and monitoring the situation, but that is not exactly comforting to people who have seen these drones hovering over their homes.

Officials sound alarm over reports of the strange sights—seen over New Jersey, New York, Maryland and Pennsylvania—with one asking for a “limited state of emergency.”
