An Islamic State suicide bombing in Kabul on Wednesday killed a Taliban minister who was a senior member of the notorious Haqqani family, with a U.S. bounty on his head for terrorist activities, in the highest-profile casualty since the Taliban took power in Afghanistan three years ago.

A suicide bombing in the Afghan capital on Wednesday killed the Taliban refugee minister, Interior Ministry officials said.

Taliban refugee minister Khalil Haqqani has been killed in a suicide bombing in Kabul, the movement's most high profile casualty since it returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021. Six others died in the blast as Haqqani was leaving his office, interior ministry sources said.
