In March, U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor, D-Tampa, and Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-Bradenton, reintroduced the bipartisan Florida Coastal Protection Act to make permanent the moratorium on oil drilling off Florida’s coast.

The ban affects the entire Eastern Seaboard, the Pacific Coast along California, Oregon and Washington, the eastern Gulf of Mexico and the Northern Bering Sea.

President Joe Biden banned oil and gas drilling along the U.S. coasts, including off New Jersey. Not everyone in the state is celebrating the move.
