Tens of thousands of Southern Californians were ordered to evacuate their homes after out-of-control wildfires engulfed several parts of the Los Angeles area.

The Hurst Fire has set 505 acres ablaze near San Fernando, California in the Sylmar neighborhood, according to Cal Fire. It is 0% contained. The cause of the fire, which was discovered on Tuesday at around 10:30 p.m., remains under investigation, according to the department.

As the wildfires continue to burn in California, thousands are evacuating and those living in nearby towns and cities are on standby, waiting to get out.

Wildfires ravaging some of the most picturesque neighborhoods in the Los Angeles area continued to grow Wednesday night and FOX 29 caught up with a few former Philadelphian’s now living in that fire zone.
